Custom Script on Standard back button

Hi All,

I have assigned a script to standard back button. This is resulting in an error message popup. But If I assign the same script to a custom button it is working as expected.

I am trying to understand whether this approach of assigning script to standard buttons is a good practice or not and the background.

Kindly share inputs.
