supreeth here, yes it is possible to trigger breakpoint in background job and i am sharing the screenshot for the same , i think it might help you.
*Transaction code for background job.
*background job screen shot .execute it.
*Just select your job from the list .
*after selecting just type JDBG in command bar.
*And now Debugger will be triggered for your selected job.
