Nope, if they dont want to you cant seduce them to look into this 
You could mention Saar Dagan , who is very helpfull on SCN in the portal section and hope he has the time to help you
However, my 2 cents on this are still: you want find anything in standard for this requirement. Forget the UME actions, this stuff is not documented with few exceptions, so those are not helpfull in generally imho. Its possible Im wrong of course.
The easiest way is: download the standard application, decompile, adapt to your needs in own name space, deploy, thats it.
